You may think a pocket hole jig is the greatest thing since sliced bread. You may even think it is as useful as a bread slicing machine. It may seem odd to compare a power tool to a product that an individual only finds in a bakery, but it is not as extreme a comparison as it might be otherwise. Each device serves a specific purpose. Each tool serves its intended purpose well.
The bread slicing machine slices a loaf of bread. It does it quickly and neatly. The pocket hole jig puts furniture joints together. The jig takes a little more time to set up than a bread slicing machine, but it is not really more difficult to use than the baking tool. The user must set it up to for the material he is using. He must also set it up correctly for the materials used by the table or chair.
